Are You an Idea Pack Rat?

Copyblogger.com recently posted a motivating entry: “The Alexander Graham Bell Guide to Changing the World.” The post takes a quick look at 2 people that could be credited with the invention of the telephone prior to Bell. So why is Bell credited with the telephone?

Because he acted on his idea, fought for it, promoted and spread it.  The real message of the post is to act on your ideas — to reject being an “idea pack rat.” What does that mean?

It means having great ideas and repeatedly letting them die the slow death of inaction. An idea pack rat stores away ideas in an attic and never lets them see the light of day. How do you relinquish your pack-ratting ways? Tell someone about your idea. Make a prototype. Use social networks. Bring light to the shadows of a concept.

As the writer of the post implores us: make 2010 the year you act on one of your genius ideas or inventions.
